Freshers and Flights - Monday 15th September
So Big Hand folk, we get a call at the start of the week - "can you do a gig this coming Saturday for Edinburgh Uni Freshers week" Our reply is that 2 of us are in London, one of us has major dental work the day before, one of the singers has lost their voice from an evil bug going round and we have no backline in Scotland...
So, obviously, we gratefully accept the challenge and "the planning stage" begins... Two tubes, two trains, two flights, a large amount of Dyhydrocodiene, hardcore intake of hot honey and lemon, a very annoyed taxi driver with leather seats in his poeple carrier to take our borrowed gear to the gig, 4 stops around Edinburgh the beg, steal and borrow equipment, we find ourselves at soundcheck at the Union...
The show is a storming success and could only have been better and more worth while if there were more people and, well, folk wanted to let themselves go a bit and get down like it was 1984. Nevertheless, we had a wicked time, got drunk on beer, wine & single malt, ended back at one of our flats, played Mario kart on the Wii until our two southern members had to get their flight from Edinburgh airport at 8am.
All that way for a chicken?
Anyone that even dares to utter the words that we're picky on gigs and only do easy shows, you are indeed Gary Rhodes, and not the good one...
peas and muchos luv,
Pabs x
