Bye Bye August... - Monday 31st August
Well folk, August is now closed for the Hand. As Luke said in the last blog, it’s been an amazing month and we’re sad to see it gone for yet another year, although slightly relived to be catching up on sleep and sunlight.
Big up to Neil and all who helped put on an awesome show in Ullapool on Friday - We hope to be back very very soon… We were however upset to see the departing of Sally the Seagull, who’s life was prematurely ended by a 5 Series BMW, driven by our esteemed bass player. I always thought birds moved when they were about to be flattened?! Well, most of us live and learn. We tend to just live, so we hope there are no repercussions next time we’re up driving through Mordor!
In other news, it’s been Nottinghall Carnival this bank holiday weekend, where two of the guys drove straight to from Ullapool on Saturday, avoiding death at every turn to enjoy the Reggae snacks and beer of the heavens – Not even a fly was squashed on the windscreen en route.
A few facts about Carnival for your next pub quiz or barmitzva: An estimated 1.5 Million people attend over 2 days. 12,000 Mangoes, 1 ton of Jamaican patties, 16,000 Coconuts and 15,000 plantains are eaten and 25,000 bottles of rum and 3 million cans of Red Stripe are drunk… Big Up to the bin men on Portobello Road!
Pabs x
